SuperNovas and the LHC

Just thought that i would pass along some interesting science news/articles that i came across today.

1st off it appears that the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will be back online soon.

As you may or may not know there were some major problems with LHC that lead to its pre-mature shutdown for repair earlier this year, which was a huge disappointment to all involved.  However, according the above link, it appears that the initial problems/issues with the LHC have been resolved and the LHC is expected to be back online by October of this year.

Pretty exciting news (if you are a HUGE science nerd such as myself)!

2ndly, in some interesting astronomy news

The “oldest/farthest” know SuperNova has been detected/discovered by astronomers.  Nothing really “groundbreaking” here, but this data simply adds to the mountains of evidence that already supports our current understanding of the natural world and our understanding of the age of our universe.
